Animation for art, film and design
WWF - Fish Forward
The Metalian Stallion
The Mindplotter. Developed as a symbol for what we think is the essence of a creative process that every filmmaker in the field of animation goes through.
Being able to switch between two stages, inspiration and creation, the Mindplotter is both mechanical and organic, hard and soft, brutal in his act of plotting out his thoughts and relaxed in his inspirational state of mind. While the Mindplotter alter egos, the world around him changes with it.
Not much to say about this piece that hasn’t been said before. This is where it all started. Our little cupcake of making films.
We produced this short in PAL. Unbelievable nowadays, but during the time of production, we simply couldn’t afford anything bigger and HD just sounded like madness. 458nm has toured the world for several years and has seen quite a few faces watching it.
Oh boy, were we young..
FlapFlap. What started out as a protest against the rather strange selection of short films some festivals have, soon turned out to become a small but detailed vision of what can happen if you mess around with the wrong guys.
Given, the only guideline we had was an obscure storyboard and the idea of creating a strange but highly detailed world in which two birds take a dump on someones head.
MADE - Future Self
Agency Dirk & Philip asked us to help with an invitation movie for the FUTURE SELF exhibition at MADE. Since they wanted to feature a moth, it was time for us to bring our beloved protagonist back from the dead.Back
Written and directed by Polynoid, Loom tells the story of a successful catch. A moth being caught in a spiders web. Struggling for an escape, the moths panic movements only result in less chance of survival. What follows is the type of causality everyone’s expecting. The spider appears, claims its prey and feeds on it. The way nature works. But it’s the point of view that creates an intense relationship between the hunter and its victim. There is much more to explore, much more to feel if one takes the time to really experience the content of a split second.Back
MTV / EMA
The MTV World Design Studio gave Polynoid the task to create the show package for the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards. Based on the given briefing, Polynoid approached the project with the need to combine the calmness of a real world lake with the biggest party mankind has ever seen at the very center of the earth. The whole clip had to feel fluently connected, and at the same time modular enough so pieces of it have the ability to stand on their own.Back
